Functionality of the maintenance service

Figure 1. Maintenance service overview diagram

Assets that need maintenance will be equipped with a tracker. Maintenance scheduling can be based on monitoring of the following maintenance parameters that are central in different maintenance types:

  • Traveled distance: the physical distance traveled by the asset.
  • Activity: the total active working time passed.
  • Time: a recurring time period
  • Fixed time: an absolute time.

You can create one or multiple maintenance programs for individual assets or multiple assets in one step. A maintenance program consists out of the selection of one of the parameters (traveled distance, time period, activity, fixed time) and the threshold value you define to determine the exact moment at which a maintenance should be performed.

For example, a trailer may need a tire checkup every 30000 km (parameter = traveled distance, threshold value = 30000 km).

A maintenance reminder is a notification that reminds interested parties about an upcoming maintenance requirement. In many cases maintenance can only be performed in a specific area or geozone. Presence in such a geozone can be added as an extra requirement before sending a maintenance notification.
