Localization

Learn how the locations of your assets are captured.

A typical supply chain or fleet management problem is to know where the assets are, therefore the localization service is the fundamental service in asset tracking. Knowing the location of your assets avoids time spent finding them and time spent recovering lost or stolen assets. It can also help you optimize how these assets are used.

Both connected trackers andtag trackers and are able to capture location. Connected tracker can leverage multiple location technologies to capture locations. Thinking about which localization technology to use is related to the use case. Tag trackers indirectly capture location as they communicate over Bluetooth Low energy with another device that functions as communication gateway. Each technology has its advantages and disadvantages with respect to precision, impact on battery life, required infrastructure and transmission cost.
