Trackers and managed assets
Make sure your trackers correctly represent your tracked assets.
View and edit your trackers
The easiest way to see which trackers you have in your organization is to go to the Asset list.
If you want to see information about the asset that your tracker is currently tracking, then you can visit the Asset status page.
If you want to make changes to your tracker or digital twin information, then you should start from the Asset trackers list in the Admin section of the portal. From here you can click on the Action button to start changing your tracker and asset information.
Add new trackers
When you order new trackers, they will automatically be assigned to your account, and will appear in the asset list in state.
The tracker model is indicated in the Product Type field. Each tracker is uniquely identified in the Sensolus platform by its Serial identifier, which is also printed on the physical device.
In order to start using a tracker, it needs to be physically activated. The way this is done, depends on the tracker type:
- Battery-powered trackers without physical tamper button, need to be activated with a magnet.
- Battery-powered trackers with a physical tamper button, need to be activated with a magnet or by mounting the tracker on the asset.
- Externally-powered trackers need to be connected to a power source to be activated.
- BLE trackers are always active.
After activation, the tracker status will show as .
Customize asset properties
Trackers are used to track and monitor physical assets. The physical association that is created by attaching a tracker to an asset, should be configured on the Sensolus platform as well.
It is important to specify in the Sensolus platform which asset a particular tracker is attached to. Make sure to either register this link in real-time using the Sensolus mobile app when mounting the tracker on its asset, or to write down which tracker (identified by its Serial identifier) is mounted on which asset, for later use.
The system provides different means to do so, via different asset properties such as the Asset Name to recognize the particular asset, a third party ID that identifies the asset in other systems, asset tags to group or categorize assets and customizable asset properties which are specific to your business.
Customize the tracker behavior
Trackers can be used for different use cases since their behavior is fully configurable. Each use case has its optimal tracker configuration.
A tracker attached to a trailer should be configured differently from the same tracker attached to a container.
The system therefore provides means for the system administrators to control the behavior of each tracker, so that it is tuned to the specific type of the asset that it tracks.
